Traveling with a hedgehog to the UK.

We just went through a fascinating trip from Prague (CZ) to Mildenhall (UK).    I. Why did we need to travel with her?   This idea of relocating my hedgehog came from my travelling to the UK for a month to visit my fiancee during Christmas, New Year’s and his Birthday.  Leaving for the whole month is different from just a short holiday away from hedgie. A lot of friends are leaving Prague, but there was an option of leaving her with a pet sitter. However, I dropped that idea. It’s not the best option to leave such a fragile animal with a pet sitter for quite a long time. So, I had only one option really – to travel with a hedgehog.   II. Creating the perfect route.   What I did at first was contacting all the airlines flying from Prague to Stansted (London). None of them accepted hedgehogs on board, only in a luggage boot. But imagine, a …

English IELTS Life Skills test for the UK visa

I am in the process of applying for a spouse visa in the UK now and one of the requirements is A1 English IELTS Life Skills test. There is only one place in the Czech Republic where you can pass this one only in Prague – https://www.britishcouncil.cz/.  An examiner is coming from Viena though where you also can pass the test If you live in the Czech Republic but don’t want to go to Prague. If you don’t know where you can pass the test in your country, you can check a list of approved tests provided here.   The test itself takes around 15 minutes. There is no writing part, mostly speaking and 2 listening tasks. Questions were very basic, examiner spoke very slowly and you could ask any questions you had. The whole test is being recorded from the first minute till the end of it. I passed my test with another guy. First of all, we were asked what our …

2 hours in Dresden, where to …?

Sometimes you need to spend a couple of hours in between flights or while you change the train station, we all faced that, right? Dresden is a wonderful city full of history, unbelievable architecture and atmosphere. If you have even 2 hours, I suggest spending some time in the city!     The best place to see the city for such a short period of time – is Innere Altstadt. It is a district in the old town and the historic centre of Dresden. Have a cup of coffee in local restaurants and visit: Frauenkirche church – majestic building! Was built in the 18th century, and later was destroyed during World War II. By the decision of local East German leaders, the remaining ruins were left for 50 years as a war memorial. Reconstruction works started in 1994 and were completed in 2005. Take your time and walk in to see the interior. All building looks beautiful inside as well.   …

Cambridge one day trip!

Cambridge is a small student city based in the county of Cambridgeshire UK located on the river Cam.  It has a population of 124 000 people with over a 5th of that being students. Historically and archaeologically Cambridge has been a settlement from the bronze age and was occupied by both the Romans and Vikings. Today Cambridge is most famous for its university which was opened in the year 1209 which led to many startup companies specializing in a software development and biosciences. Architecture in this city is just amazing and breathtaking! The vibe of Cambridge is very unusual. Houses are not so tall, a lot of historical architecture has stayed as it was hundreds of years. New buildings don’t ruin the atmosphere or views which is just perfect! As well as having such prestigious technological and medical advancements Cambridge also has a wide and varied arts culture. That includes music, dance, drama,    street arts, etc. If you like …

How the Czech Republic treats us so far

Never shared yet our feedback about the life in the Czech Republic. During the whole year, we’ve got so many stories, memories, difficulties and overall amazing experience. Along with how much we adore this country I can’t leave unmentioned that fact that it hasn’t been so easy for us to make life here very comfortable.   I am working in sales as a Media Buyer in a start-up company. My fiancee is a stonemason but here he works as an English teacher. We are both qualified in what we are doing. Ambitious, motivated, positive and always aimed at success. However, it wasn’t surprisingly easy to make enough money to satisfy our needs. We’d like to travel, save some amount for future plans and expand opportunities, but unfortunately, even after a year, I can’t say we’re close to that.   IT industry is overloaded beyond belief. I myself know a lot of people who make good money in sales within IT. Most …

LATEST TRIP/ Great Yarmouth / UK

Recently we’ve made a new Vlog about the UK! You can watch it HERE But let me tell you a bit more about our trip in addition to the video. Recently my fiancee left the Czech Republic and went back to the UK to work towards my wife visa. He has to have bank statements for the last 6 months for the application to show that he can support me after I apply for a visa. Spouse visas are quite complicated in England…I guess as everywhere. Because Dec worked in Prague before,  he had no incoming funds from English companies and Czech ones won’t count, which means he’s got to go to the UK for 6 months OR we could provide savings £ 64 000 (this amount also has to be on his account for half a year) which is an enormous amount of money for us at the moment. That’s why he’s there now. I am still living in Prague because there …
